I recently purchased the new Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 from Amazon after doing research of Security programs. It is highly rated by many companies.
Unfortunately, nowhere it the advertisements for Kaspersky Security, does it tell you the program originates in Russia. Nor does it provide any information as to where there are any support offices in the United States.
I tried installing the program, which deleted the Norton 360 security program I had been using. After the installation, I could not access the Internet and had no way of contacting Kaspersky for assistants.
Per the instructions with the program, which sates, “if you cannot access the Internet after installation, contact your internet provider.”
I contacted Verizon and the support person spent well over an hour to try and get me back on the net, without success. This left me with one option, remove Kaspersky and have Verizon install their security program.
Later, I try to find a regional office for Kaspersky, so that I could return the program. I found an office in Woburn, Massachusetts and explained the problem.
Since I purchased the program from Amazon, there was nothing they could do. Having opened the program to install it, I cannot return it to Amazon, so I am stuck with the program.
This may be a perfectly good program if you do not have Norton installed on your computer; but I cannot judge it.

I purchased KIS 2009, because I had a good experience with the previous version. However, this one was confusing to install and required removal of SpyBot for no apparent reason. Somehow, my computer got hung-up during the install and I was unable to uninstall the partially installed version, so ended up taking it to a repair shop to uninstall Kaspersky. Since I couldn’t return Kaspersky, I tried to re-install it a second time and eventually was successful. Once installed, it seems to work o.k. However, the whole experience cost me about 5 hours of my time plus a $100 repair bill. I’m not a happy customer!

LOOK,IM NOT GOING TO WASTE TIME WITH ALL THE DETAILS–THIS IS A EXCELLENT PRODUCT.I HAVE USED THE OLD 7.0 VERSION KASPERSKY AND JUST RECENTLY UPGRADED TO THE NEW 2009 VERSION.THE OLD VERSION WAS GOOD,BUT THIS IS EVEN BETTER–THE OLD VERSION HAD A TENDENCY TO SLOW MY COMPUTER ALOT DURING COMPUTER START-UP ONLY,BUT IT NEVER LET ME DOWN FOR PROTECTION. AND YES IT ASKED PERMISSION FOR EVERY SIMPLE EXECUTION OF ANY FILE THAT WAS CHANGED OR OPENED,IT WAS SIMPLY ANNOYING.THE NEW VERSION DOES ALOT OF THE WORK ITSELF RATHER THAN ASKING WHAT IT SHOULD DO.IT’S SIMPLIFIED AND IT’S EASY TO UPGRADE,IT TOOK ONLY 10 MINS.TOTAL TO UNINSTALL KASPERSKY 7.0, THEN POP IN THE CD TO UPGRADE KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY 2009—DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE!!
